| Anthony Masters's first book, a collection of short stories for adults called A Pocket Full of Rye, was published when he was only twenty-four. Anthony's first novel, The Seahorse, which won the John Lewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize, was published not long after. Since then Anthony has established a reputation as a popular and gifted author, writing both fiction and non-fiction for children and adults. |

Anthony was particularly well known for exploring issues in the lives of young adults. His
books about young men stranded between childhood and maturity - struggling with issues of trust
and faced with difficult, sometimes violent, situations - convey very real and contemporary
dilemmas brilliantly.
Anthony's presence in the world of children's books will be keenly missed. Franklin Watts have most recently published Anthony's new World War II series, which he completed before his untimely death in April 2003. These exciting true-life stories are ideal for young adult adventure buffs everywhere and a fine example of Anthony's gripping and skilled writing. |
