Reading Corner (Story Books at Grade 1 with 50-100 words and Grade 2 with 130-200 words)

Reading Corner is a carefully graded, brightly illustrated series of first reading books. Written by top authors, illustrators and photographers, the series covers a wide range of genres listed in the National Literacy and Primary Strategies. The range has been specifically created for newly independent readers in consultation with literacy experts, Dr Barrie Wade, Professor of English in Education at the University of Birmingham, and Dr Hilary Minns, Lecturer in English at the Institute of Education, University of Warwick.

Reading Corner covers three grades of early reading ability, with three levels at each grade. Each level has a certain number of words per story, indicated by the number of bars on the spine.

Leapfrog (Story Books with less than 180 words)

Leapfrog are early reading books which satisfy the criteria of the National Literacy and Primary Strategies. Produced in consultation with Dr Barrie Wade, Professor of English in Education at the University of Birmingham, the books are colourful early reading books with one sentence per page. The large, clear type will reassure the most reluctant of readers and the text and illustrations work together to develop visual literacy.
