Biography

Keris was born in Winnipeg, Canada, but moved back to the UK when only four months old and then grew up on the Wirral. Working as a bookseller, usher at Wembley Stadium and PA to Bob Geldof, Keris finally sat down to write her first novel in 2004. She is also a freelance journalist and the co-editor of teen books blog, Chicklish.

1. This competition is open to UK and Ireland residents with the exception of employees of the Promoter, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this promotion. [Entries from those aged 13 or under must be accompanied by written permission from a parent/guardian or with their written consent.

2. Entries must be received by 31st October 2011. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted or fail to reach the Promoter by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of posting or sending is not proof of receipt. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid. Entries become the property of the Promoter and are not returned.

3. Only one entry per person. No entrant may win more than one prize.

4. All correctly completed entries will be entered into a prize draw which will take place on 1st November 2011. The first entry drawn will be the winners.

5. The winning entry will win a three night stay in New York with one other person. If the winner is under 18 this must 18 or over. The hotel will be chosen by the promoter, and dates of travel will be arranged with consultation with the winner. $500 will also be supplied to cover meals. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right (a) to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or foreclose the promotion without notice. No correspondence will be entered into. All prizes are subject to availability.

6. The winners will be notified via email by 5th November 2011. The winner must claim their prize within 14 working days of the Promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.

7. To obtain details of the winner please email ad@hachettechildrens.co.uk stating the name of the prize draw in the subject heading 4 weeks after the closing date.
