Sally Hewitt was born in Worthing in Sussex. After studying for a B.Ed in Stockwell at Stockwell college of Education, Sally went on to teach in primary schools for ten years and to have two children of her own.

Sally has contributed to over twenty non-fiction series including It's Science, In Your Neighbourhood, Taking Part and Discovering Nature. Her experience together with her enthusiasm and knowledge makes her work both accessible and exciting. She is a popular visitor to schools libraries and bookshops up and down the country where she enjoys talking to budding writers about her books and involving them in activities and workshops.
Sally Hewitt now lives in Richmond with her husband Gavin.
